Director of ELA
New to Windham, beginning July 1, 2015, Coby brings a wide range of instructional and administrative experiences to the ELA Director's role. With 17 years of experience teaching elementary grades and high school English in Western New York near Buffalo, her background is uniquely diverse. As a teacher leader, she facilitated district level and building level school improvement teams including Comprehensive District Education Planning, Site-based Management Teams, Professional Development Teams, Teacher Evaluation models, curriculum development work sessions and led her peers in implementing the Six Traits Writing model in her district.
In 2008, she relocated to NH where she assumed the role of Instructional Coach/Professional Development Coordinator at the Rochester Middle School where she supported teacher effectiveness and planned and implemented various school-wide professional development opportunities for 3 years. In 2011, she was named principal of East Rochester Elementary school, also within the Rochester School Department, where she was charged to effect transformative processes and implement RSD's K-12 Competency-based Model of instruction and assessment, implemented processes to improve student achievement and supported her school community during an extensive building renovation.
Coby holds a BS in Elementary Education with a concentration in Secondary English Education from SUNY at Fredonia, Fredonia, NY and a MS degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Canisius College, Buffalo, NY.
